| Abstract | We have developed a waveform inversion method to estimate a 2D S-wave velocity structure of deep sedimentary layers using Love waves for modeling basin-edge structures with complicated shapes which are difficult to model. In this study, we improved the existing 3D model by HERP (2012) for the Kanto plain considering 2D basin-edge models estimated from the 2D inversions (Kasamatsu et al., 2019). Then, we simulated earthquake ground motions using the 3D models before and after our modification. We were able to verify the effectiveness of the 2D inversion method through the comparisons of the reproducibility of the observed ground motions. |
