A practical non-destructive testing method using vibration for estimating tensile force of ground anchors

Abstract
The authors have been developing a non-destructive testing method for residual tensile force of ground anchors. This time, mock-up experiments were conducted in which both vibrator and accelerometer were attached only on the extra-length of three types of anchors. It was found that the vibrational resonance frequency can be detected for the three types of anchors, and the tensile force can be estimated from the frequency. On the other hand, we found that bending stiffness of the free length part of the anchor is effective when the free length is relatively short.
