Experimental study for the high-frequency AC resistivity survey

Abstract
We received a technical offer from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, manufactured a high-frequency AC electric survey device, and conducted a basic experiment. As a result of the basic experiment, the following was confirmed. (1) An apparent resistivity matching that of the DC electric survey is obtained. (2) The transmission current has a positive correlation with the electrode contact area. (3) The installation location of the main unit, the length of the cable, etc., may affect the measured values. (4) Moving measurement is possible, but there is still room for improvement in equipment and measuring method. High frequency AC electric survey can be expected to be an effective technology for screening water pipe corrosion, and for surveying buried pipes and cavities in shallow underground areas, and will continue R & D for practical use in the future.
