Design of rock physical property database to support metal deposit exploration

Abstract
The exploration and development of shallow metallic ore deposit is almost completed. The focus of exploration is shifting to deep blind deposits. Therefore, there is an increasing expectation for geophysical exploration that non-destructively investigates the deep geological structure over wide area. In most of the exploration projects, the subsurface structure is examined by geophysical surveys prior to drilling. However, interpretation of the geological structure analyzed from geophysical data is often inadequate. One of the reasons is the lack of knowledge about the physical properties of the rocks that form the underground structure. The lack of basic knowledge to associate the distribution of physical properties with the distribution of rocks makes it difficult to interpret the results of geophysical exploration. To overcome this, we are working on creating a database that collects the physical properties of ores and rocks in deposit areas.
