The application of geophysical method in offshore ground survey: Offshore microtremor array

Abstract
As the law for promoting offshore wind power was implemented in April 2019, it is expected to expand the submarine ground survey market for the construction of offshore wind power generation. In general ground surveys, the geological and physical properties are evaluated by boring, but since boring surveys at sea are time-consuming and risky, there is a high need for simpler survey method. For the purpose of grasping S-wave velocity structure in a short time, we have developed Offshore Microtremor Array Exploration that doesn't require boring surveys. Applicability test of this exploration was carried out at offshore wind construction site with known geology and ground structure, and it was confirmed that microtremor records with high SN ratio could be recorded even on the seabed surface. The S-wave velocity structure estimated by offshore microtremor array exploration is consistent with that of PS logging, indicating the applicability of microtremor array exploration to offshore ground survey.
