Studies on disaster prevention using InSAR time series analysis

Abstract
We have investigated techniques for the efficient early detection of landslides using time series analysis of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. We perform DInSAR (differential InSAR) analysis and InSAR time-series analysis using ALOS/PALSAR data and commercial software in order to investigate slight displacement around disaster areas of Miyazaki, Hiroshima and Saga in Japan. Moreover, in order to remove the noise caused by geographical feature stripes or phase retardation, we applied median filtering, histogram extraction processing, and clearisation of the displacement with a Laplacian filter. The data used in this study observed from 2007 to 2011. The results show that InSAR analysis is useful for the extraction of ground surface deformation, and it suggests a possibility of the prior monitoring of disaster.
