resistivity monitoring for unsaturated water flow in landfills

Abstract
We measured resistivity in landfills of valley fill type to make clear the water path. The permeating water flow is unsaturated in landfills. This paper covers to visualize the water flow. We poured salt water into landfills and measured resistivity repeatedly at a few hours interval. Three dimensional inverse analysis was applied to the apparent resistivity data and 3-D profiles were generated. Differential profiles were calculated by using the method of Difference inversion. As a result, it was revealed that the decreasing zone of resistivity was expanding downward and sideways from poured point in H landfill. From the above, we can visualized unsaturated water flow using resistivity survey method in valley-filling sites.
