Application of 3D refraction tomography by initial model randomization and study on their evaluation: Case study from the Onikoube quasi-3D seismic survey

Abstract
Reflection images in geothermal field are usually very complex and interpretation of such data require high knowledge and experience. In such case, velocity model estimated through travel-time tomography is very effective since the model can be integrated with reflection image for interpretation. In Japan, tomography is often done through initial model randomization method. We have adopted the method in 3D using quasi-3D data acquired in Onikobe geothermal field by JOGMEC. The result show consistent velocity model with known hydrothermal distribution. We also propose to use some statistical value to estimate reliability of the result. Finally, we examine the new approach to quantitatively evaluate resolution of tomography analysis.
