Necessity of hybrid solver for three dimensional magnetotelluric inversion

Abstract
In the three-dimensional inversion method of the magnetotellurics, many codes have been developed in the past 20 years. The final goal of the inversion is to construct a model that can interpret geology and can explain real data. It is attributed to minimizing the objective function, but in order to achieve it, it is necessary to solve a ill-posed simultaneous equations. Here, the method of solving these simultaneous equations is called a solver. Each solver has its own advantages and disadvantages. In this paper, we focused on two solvers that have excellent personality among many methods. By utilizing these advantages, we propose a hybrid solver inversion that can solve a large scale model with high reliability, and showed its effectiveness by synthetic test.
