An Experimental Study on Basic Performance of Accelerometer Made of Crystal Oscillator

Abstract
An accelerometer made of a crystal oscillator can be expected even with higher sensitivity, and smaller and more accurate sensor than a conventional accelerometer which consists of a pendulum. However, the crystal oscillator is strongly affected by fluctuation of temperature. We modify a manufactured product of accelerometer to a kind of oven controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO), and examine its basic performance through two types of observations. The accelerometer is set inside of tunnel with stable temperature, and extract a component with period of about 12 hours using ensemble empirical mode decomposition. It is found that sensitivity of the accelerometer seems to be comparable level of earth tide, such as order of 0.1 mGal under temperature controlled strictly.
