2D resistivity monitoring at a model levee

Abstract
Evaluation of the water infiltration characteristics in the vadose zone is a key to assess the safety of levee. In this paper, we conducted resistivity tomography to monitor soil moisture change in the vadose zone at 1 hour intervals. A survey line was set at across a model levee. Current and potential electrodes were planted at 25 cm intervals alternately. As a result, change of resistivity structures were identified as time passed. And, the observed dataset was influenced by temperature change. For the purpose of estimating soil moisture from resistivity, combined measurement of resistivity survey and soil moisture meters, correlation with each data and measurement of soil temperature at several depth are necessary.
