Broadband frequency response of dispersion and attenuation of P-wave and S-wave in partially frozen brine and unconsolidated sands: a rock physics study

Abstract
Two most popular rock physical models are chosen to simulate the effect of ice on the broadband frequency dispersion and attenuation of P-wave and S-wave in partially frozen brine and unconsolidated sands. Investigation on frequency dependency of dispersion and attenuation introduced by several different attenuation mechanisms: Biot loss, friction energy loss and squirt flow are also conducted to assist the interpretation of the responsible attenuation mechanisms in partially frozen brine and unconsolidated sands
