Slope is a common structure in Malaysia because it can be seen alongside highways, federal roads and also residential areas. However, there is a phenomenon that came with slope called the slope failure. Many remedial steps have been taken in order to reduce the slope failure but it still occurs especially during rainy season. This paper aims to study the slope subsurface in the highly potential areas in Penang Island to detect any potential of slope failure using geophysical methods of 2D resistivity and induced polarization. Based on the results, there are several features that may lead to slope failure such as the fractures, boulders, weak zone and also saturated zone. To conclude, the application of 2D resistivity and induced polarization methods have successfully study the slope at Penang Island, Malaysia.
