Simulation of square array resistivity method to detect subsurface layer boundaries

Abstract
A ground improvement technique is effective for soft ground before constructing building. But the judgement of reaching the bottom is one of serious problems in case of a ground improvement. In order to evaluate an effectiveness of judgement of reaching the bottom using subsurface resistivity, numerical simulations of square array resistivity method was done. As a result of some simulations, a relationship between apparent resistivity and radius of square was examined. Finally, we concluded that resistivity boundaries can be detected by the buried square array.
