Construction of electric properties database of rocks for metal exploration

Abstract
In metal resource exploration, the induced polarization (IP) method is one of the important geophysical exploration techniques indispensable to the determination of a drilling position. The time domain IP (TDIP) and spectral IP (SIP) methods are often used nowadays. Subsurface distributions of complex resistivity and chargeability are obtained by these surveys. In order to interpret the position, scale, and type of metallic ore deposits, it is necessary to know electric physical properties such as complex resistivity and chargeability of the target ores. Therefore, the database which collected the electric physical properties of the ore samples will become a powerful tool for interpreting the IP result. We started construction of electric properties database of rocks for metal exploration. In this database, mineralogical information, other physical properties, and results of chemical analyses have been recorded as well as the SIP and TDIP properties. It is possible to examine what kind of information about underground structure or metallic mineral resources is reflected in electric physical properties.
