Rock physics modeling of ultrasonic P- and S-wave velocity and attenuation in partially unfrozen unconsolidated sands: comparison with laboratory measurements

Abstract
Several rock physical models are chosen to simulate the effect of ice saturation on ultrasonic P- and S- wave velocity and attenuation in partially unfrozen brine and unconsolidated sands.By selecting appropriate temperature and brine saturation equation and rock physical parameters, the ultrasonic data can be directly compared with our simulation results. And we also try to clarify the responsible attenuation mechanisms in partially unfrozen brine and unconsolidated sands.
