S-wave subsurface structure of Okinawa Island

Abstract
We curried out microtremor array measurements to explore the subsurface S-wave velocity structure at 16 sites in the Okinawa Island, southern part of Japan. In this paper, we report the results of the exploration and their effects on earthquake ground motion. The depths of the top of layer with Vs of 3000 m/s are more than 2000m at the southeastern part of the Okinawa Island. The 1D velocity structure model of each site showed the performance by using ground motion records and simulations.
