Estimation of site amplification using earthquake records at strong motion stations in Turkey

Abstract
Strong ground motion data observed during 757 earthquakes at 462 strong motion stations operated by AFAD in whole of Turkey were used to estimate effects of source, propagation path and site amplification using a spectral separation technique in the frequency domain. Q-values for the propagation path in the Crust are larger than those from previous studies. The amplifications at sites in the eastern part of Turkey are large in wide frequency range. The amplifications in high frequency range are also large at sites around Marmara Sea. The sites in the southwestern part are characterized with the low amplifications in wide frequency range.
