Validity of assumption of two-dimensional structure model in surface wave propagation in sedimentary basin

Abstract
To clarify the coverage range of the waveform inversion method to estimate a 2-D structure of deep sedimentary layers proposed by Kasamatsu et al.(2015), we investigated a relations of distances from a basin edge and periods that can be assumed for the 2-D propagation of Love wave in the inversion. We found that the distances in the valid assumption of 2-D propagation are short in the side of short periods. The distances for the Love waves at periods over 6s are more than 70km, while those for the periods from 2s to 5s are around 40-60km. The Love waves at periods shorter than 2s propagate two-dimensionally within 10km.
