Development of a non-contact measurement system of physical properties of pavements (Part3): Comparison of accelerometer array and non-contact microphone array.

Abstract
We developed a prototype of non-contact surface wave measurement tool using microphone array. Performance and data quality has been repeatedly tested in our previous studies. We concluded that the tool could successfully acquire leaky surface waves. However, discrepancies were recognized in the observed dispersion curves when comparing them with dispersion curves observed by an accelerometer array pasted on the pavement surfaces, especially at low frequency part, lower than 1 kHz. In this study, simultaneous measurements using the microphone array and the accelerometer array was conducted to clarify the causes. As a result, shortage in the spread of microphone array might result in the discrepancy in the low frequency part. Therefore, expansion of array spread is our next major improvement of the tool for deepening investigation, in depth of 1 m or more.
