An analysis method of magnetic anomaly computed by 2.5 dimensional model with arbitrary prisms

Abstract
The numerical analysis of magnetic exploration data in order to estimate the underground structure is commonly achieved by the use of 2-D or 3-D rectangular prism model. But depending on each analysis we can effectively use basic elements other than rectangular shapes for the subsurface interpretation by the magnetic exploration. To solve this problem, we derived 2.5-D formulas for the model due to arbitrary polygonal prisms. In this case, the model is arbitrary polygon in the x-z plane and elongated finitely in the direction of the y axis. From the derived 2.5-D formulas, we coded a computation program for the magnetic anomaly due to the 2.5-D models by the C# language. To verify our calculations, we also performed a field experiment in order to compare the theoretical value with measured value. The theoretically calculated values showed a good correlation with experimental results, which confirms the correctness of our numerical computation.
