Comparison of shallow S-wave velocity profiles from microtremor-array and surface-wave explorations at strong motion stations in Turkey

Abstract
Shallow S-wave profiles obtained at 13 strong motion stations in five areas in Turkey from microtremor array exploration and surface wave exploration were compared. The two kinds of the models are similar to a depth of 10meters. However, the S-wave distributions in depths more than 10meters are different, because of the different frequency range of Rayleigh phase velocity used in inversion for the models. The difference in the Vs-profiles contained large effects in the amplifications of S-waves with different dominant frequencies. The average S-wave velocities for the models are also compared. The average S-wave velocity in the top 10meters shows better agreement in the two models than those in the top 30meters.
