Applicability Evaluation of Archaeological Exploration by Dual Polarized Array GPR

Abstract
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is one of efficient tools to obtain the subsurface information without any destruction. Nowadays, array GPR, which has more than two pairs of transmitter and receiver antenna, is getting common due to its efficiency by reducing survey line. Moreover, dual polarized array GPR has been developed. The dual polarized GPR can detect linear shaped targets, which have polarization dependence, without missing. We applied the dual polarized array GPR to archaeological exploration, and evaluated the applicability especially focusing an effect of dual polarization. As a result, the two polarization can obtain different information of underground targets.
