The study to reduce the influence of ROV applying Time Domain Electromagnetic Methods to surveys on hydrothermal ore deposits

Abstract
In recent years, the hydrothermal ore deposits have attracted many interests due to the growing demand for the natural mineral resources. The TDEM methods are considered as one of the important ocean bottom geophysical exploration technique. It is planned to utilize the ROV for the continuous survey on the seafloor. However, it is found that the ROV itself becomes the source of the noise because the ROV shows very low resistivity. In this study, to investigate the methods to reduce the influence of the ROV, three-dimensional numerical models are performed using FDTD codes. As a result, it is possible to reduce the noise caused by the ROV, by installing compensating loops around the ROV.
