Collection and organization of geological information by diving surveys toward the practical application of integrated data for marine mineral resources exploration - Case study of Iheya North Knoll area, Mid-Okinawa trough -

Abstract
In recent years, many exploration data such as geophysical and seabed terrain survey data have been acquired for marine mineral resources genesis research. For more effective use of these data in practical applications to exploration and exploitation, we have started to collect and compile geo-information using video image data obtained by diving surveys with the Shinkai 6500, the Hyper Dolphin and the Deep-Toe around Iheya North Knoll area, Mid-Okinawa trough. We have created a geo-information map at the site which compiles seabed terrain and geology, biological features, hydrothermal deposits and others. The compiled data are also imported into the GIS base for visualizing a seabed geo-information map and further analysis in future.
