Vibration measurement experiments for unstable rock blocks using real rock models

Abstract
The authors have been doing a study on evaluation method of rock slope stability by remotely-positioned Laser Doppler Vibrometers (LDV). We have conducted physical model experiments using a lot of gypsum block models. However, we have not used real rock models because of the difficulties in simulating crack extension. This time we have tried to use three kinds of real rocks in order to check the real rock behaviors. As the results, we have found that the relationship between vibration frequency and block stability is almost the same as that of the gypsum models.
