Visualizing for condition in landfills using various electrical prospectings

Abstract
Recycling laws were enacted in 2000. On the other hand, various kinds of wastes were discarded into landfills without intermediate treatments before 2000. However metals are seldom detected in leachates, meaning that valuable metals remain trapped in landfills. Purposes of this study are whether we can prospect metal-enriched zone and urban mining of landfill sites can become economically viable as rare metals become scarcer, or not. We have previously examined the enrichment processes in landfill. In addition, we examined resistivity method, induced polarization method and spontaneous polarization method to visualize the condition in landfill and developed a nondestructive three-dimensional prospecting system.
