Estimaition of phase velocities and power fractions of Love waves in horizontal microtremors by FK and SPAC methods


Abstract
Three-component microtremor array observations were done at the site of Iwate University and in Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture. Love the wave phase velocities and its power fractions were estimated from horizontal microtremor records by using improved spatial autocorrelation method and frequency wavenumber analysis method. Love wave phase velocities in both the observation sites were the same in both methods. The power fractions of Love wave were about from 60% to 75% in both sites. The results by the SPAC method show that the power fraction of Love wave did not vary within our observation time. And the results by FK method show that the direction of arrival of Love waves did not vary. Space autocorrelation method and frequency wavenumber analysis is practically effective for the horizontal microtremor analysis.
