| | Abstract | | A baseline groundwater monitoring is initiated in the preliminary investigation stage of HLW and TRU geological disposal program. NUMO and CRIEPI conducted a cross hole tests as parts of the demonstration and evaluation test to characterize geological and hydrogeological feature in soft sedimentary rock. In the test, an ongoing borehole for groundwater monitoring was used as a detector hole to receive hydraulic and/or seismic signals. A cross hole seismic tomography was carried out in MP casing of the MP monitoring system. Observed data show clear first breaks without any effects by the components of the MP monitoring system. |
