First Experiment of Array GPR for Buried Object Detection

Abstract
The demand on an efficient method for road infrastructure monitoring has been increasing. Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is one of efficient tools to obtain the subsurface information without any destruction. Nowadays, array GPR, which has more than two pairs of transmitter and receiver antenna, is getting common due to its efficiency by reducing survey line. We have introduced two array GPR systems from IDS, Stream-EM and Hi-BrigHT, aiming to road subsurface exploration. The first experiment was carried out in a test site having artificial cavity and delamination. As a result, Stream-EM detected all buried cavity in concrete, and Hi-BrigHT detected the delamination in asphalt made by nonwoven fabric in the test site successfully.
