Surface-wave analysis for monitoring subsurface structure using ACROSS

Abstract
We apply surface-wave analysis for monitoring subsurface structures using seismic ACROSS. Seismic ACROSS data with the FM operation from 5-15 Hz were continuously acquired from 5 to 6 August 2014. We investigate time stability of both surface wave dispersion curves and attenuation coefficients estimated by surface-wave analysis. The estimated dispersion curves and attenuation coefficients show high stability in the frequency range of the FM operation. The high S/N ratio of the ACROSS enables us to extract longer wavelengths of surface waves, compared to the conventional surface-wave exploration using a wooden hammer. This makes it possible to deepen investigation depth of surface-wave analysis. Our results indicate surface-wave analysis has a high potential in monitoring subsurface structures with the ACROSS.
