A study on the impact elastic wave methods for measuring open crack depth on a concrete surface

Abstract
Non-destructive testing methods for measuring open crack depth on a concrete surface were discussed. First, we applied two existing methods including TC-T0 method and surface wave attenuation method. As the results of concrete slab model experiments, TC-T0 method was found to be affected by water in the crack. On the other hand, surface waves were not affected by the water. It is desired to be standardized on the surface wave method. In addition, laser Doppler vibrometer (LDV) and ultra-sonic array sensor were tested for the same concrete model as above. The waveforms acquired by LDV and those integrated from accelerometers looked almost identical. The LDV is expected to be useful for acquiring surface waves on the concrete.
