Microtremor exploration for a shallow layer of dipping structures


Abstract
A shallow S-wave velocity structures are estimated from a dispersion relation of phase velocity, H/V spectral ratio, etc., using microtremor exploration technique. However the estimation is originally based on an assumption that layers of media are horizontally deposited. So, if layers of media are inclined or discontinued, the estimated structures have errors to some extent. In this study, we examine the application possibility and a procedure of microtremor exploration for dipping structures. As a result, we propose that a procedure to estimate a dipping S-wave velocity structure using spatially continuous observation of H/V spectral ratio. If reference structures and target frequency band are given, the dipping structure can be estimated.
