Soundness survey of reinforced soil wall using GPR

Abstract
From a viewpoint of preventive maintenance, the authors surveyed soundness of reinforced soil walls which would have deterioration issue in near future with GPR. We conducted experiments for two actual-size models of reinforced soil wall. First, we scanned the whole of front wall face at Terre Armee model with GPR to detect the cavity behind the wall. The result of the experiment showed that the difference of the GPR amplitude between two measurements could detect cavitation expansion successfully. Next we profiled the surface shape under macadam layer with GPR at geogrid-reinforced wall model. There were some photos of embankment surface when macadam was removed previously. We obtained harmonic result with the state detected from the photos. As a next task, we think that it is important to discuss how to analyze the GPR measuring data for maintenance and management.
