Electric Survey of River Levee and Geotechnical Characteristics

Abstract
Electric survey was conducted as well as geotechnical in-situ test along levees at two rivers of Kizu-River and Kinokawa River. At Kizu River that locates inland zone, electric resistivity of ground was confirmed to depend type of soils. At Kinokawa River near the river mouth near sea, the resistivity of ground becomes to depend upon the depth and affected by water conductivity. It was confirmed that electric resistivity of soil depends upon soil type and water conductivity. Intermediate soils under unsaturated condition show such high resistivity values as for sand and gravel. It was confirmed the electric survey needs additional in-situ geotechnical test to identify soil classification to relate the resistivity values.
