Investigation on a method to predict railway-induced ground vibrations, using the path effects obtained by a hammer shot.

Abstract
We used the path effects obtained by a hammer shot, to predict railway-induced ground vibrations. Spectra of source vibrations are empirically defined from several observations on surface beside railway structures. And, path effects between the source points and the predicted points are produced from the surface waves, which are excited by hammer shots. We predicted railway-induced ground vibrations, by multiplying the empirical source vibrations by the path effects. As a result, predictions are in good agreement with observations. We confirmed the validity of this method to predict railway-induced ground vibrations.
