Estimation of S-wave velocity structures in Rikuzen-Takata City, Iwate Prefecture by microtremor observations


Abstract
We measured microtremors at 87 sites with a single sensor and measured microtremors at 14 sites with a miniature size array sensor in Rikuzen-Takata City, Iwate Prefecture, in order to estimate S-wave velocity structures of sedimentary layers by using microtremor H/V spectral ratios and phase velocities of Rayleigh wave. Observed peak period of microtremor H/V along the N-S observation line was increasing from north area to south area. Those along the E-W observation line was increasing from east area to west area but abruptly decreasing across Kesen-river. Estimated S-wave velocity structures were in good agreement with the geological cross section by Chida et al (1984).
