2D elastic wave simulation with complex shaped boundary condition by modified FDM

Abstract
An utility of the finite difference method for the elastic wave simulation in the inhomogeneous media is described. The difficulty of design process for the boundary conditions accross the contact of solid, fluid and void are reduced even if the boundary consists of many complex curves. A pixel ,or voxel, map must be prepared to represent the distribution of the phisical property and the flags of the three state. We apply the utility to a issue of wave propagation in the water with the cavity bubble. The result of the simulation represent that the cavity with random distribution cause the radiation attenuation for the wave head uniformly.
