Applicability of geophysical explorations on the effect of soil improvement of surface layers

Abstract
We conducted geoelectrical survey, microtremor measurements, and refraction surveys to investigate the applicability of various geoexploration methods to estimate the effect of soil improvement. The effects of soil improvement can be seen in the results of geoelectrical survey, microtremor H/V ratio and waveforms observed in refraction survey. However, the phase velocities estimated using microtremor array measurements had no significant difference. The estimated S-wave velocity structures compares favorably with the borehole data in the first and third layers. The S-wave velocity change due to the soil improvement has also been estimated with the inversion which becomes more than 5 times large.
