Study on non-contact acoustic exploration method for non destructive inspection,-Study of Detection of the Crack Defect-

Abstract
The hammer method is widely used for the inspection of concrete surface of tunnels or bridge girders. With this method, however, it is difficult to inspect the places where people cannot reach. Therefore, we propose a new non-contact acoustic imaging method for nondestructive inspection using air-coupled sound wave. In our past experimental results, a styrofoam which simulates a cavity in the concrete was clearly imaged as the vibration velocity anomaly on the concrete surface. Furthermore, we confirmed that we can generate a clear image at far distance (10 m). This time, we carried out experiments using a concrete test piece in which concrete crack. As a result, it is confirmed that the concrete crack can be detected as well as the cavity defect.
