Applicability of magnetic survey and its effect in tunnel geological investigation

Abstract
Magnetic survey around a tunnel planning route was conducted to grasp the subsurface structures for tunnel construction site of northern Hokkaido, Japan. As the results, the difference of the magnetism value of the serpentinite and the sedimentary rock by the magnetic survey was verified with the rock that appeared in the outcrop and the tunnel excavation line, respectively, and their distribution. This paper describes the applicability of magnetic survey for the tunnel geological investigation.
