A design method of digital filter which changes the frequency characteristics of geophones using bilinear s-z transform.

Abstract
We reports the design method of the IIR filter, which aims to compensate the low frequency property of a geophone, and the results of the actual proof examination data derived from sweep tests using a vibration table. Based upon the theoretical geophone response, it is possible to make some compensation to the characteristics of the geophone data after its acquisition. However, the IIR filter works more efficiently when the result of the characteristic compensation needed to be outputted in the real time. The bilinear s-z transformation was used to convert the characteristic compensation filter, which was designed as an analog filter, into a recursive digital IIR filter. Finally, we report that the s-z transformation has a wide application range.
