Study of the combined interpretation methodology of S-wave velocity and resistivity based on Rock Physics

Abstract
Estimation of some engineering properties (e.g., porosity and salinity of groundwater) from limited number of wells and surface geophysical surveys is a necessary task on the preliminary investigation for the radioactive waste disposal. Here, we propose a methodology of quantitative analysis for the porosity, clay content, and salinity profiles by using the extended bimodal mixture model with well logs and geophysical surveys. A trial analysis has been conducted with existing well logs and geophysical survey results. The bimodal mixture model enables us to estimate porosity and clay content from S-wave velocity profiles. The salinity or NaCl concentration additionally is obtained by the extended bimodal mixture model with resistivity profiles.
