Application and geotechnical verification of the time domain electromagnetic method to gneiss tunnel site

Abstract
The time domain electromagnetic method, TDEM, was conducted to estimate the geological conditions and structures in gneiss tunnel construction site. The information to estimate of the three dimensional geological properties were obtained by plural measuring lines. As for the resistivity structure by TDEM was indicated according to geological features distribution. This paper describes the results of geological assessment by TDEM for the tunnel design and construction, and its effect was verified with records of actual geological conditions and construction data after tunnel excavated.
