Basic experiment for development of the measurement equipment for time-domain IP method

Abstract
Induced Polarization (IP) method applies electrical current to underground and generates a polarization phenomenon. This method is used for exploration of metallic ore deposits, and investigation of an underground pollution zone, etc. There are two measuring methods, domain and in the frequency domain, for IP method. In the time domain method, the transient response of the voltage after current cutoff is analyzed, while in the frequency domain method, the spectral response over several different frequencies is analyzed. The purpose of this study is to develop the time domain system to measure the transient response in the early time, which was not used by the conventional time domain IP method until now. We made the measurement circuit which used the switching of a transistor, and did the basic experiment using an actual sample and equivalent circuit.
