A small-scale high-resolution 3-D DC resistivity measurement at a levee system damaged by the East Japan Earthquake.

Abstract
We conducted small-scale 3-D DC resistivity measurements on the slope surface of a levee system which had been damaged by the 2011 East Japan Earthquake. A total of 70 steel stakes were planted in a 6.5 m long and 4.0 m wide site, to form 5 lines at 1-m spacing each having 14 points at 0.5 m intervals. Cement-bentonite slurries showing resistivities about 1 ohm-m were injected into a levee body from the slope surface. Total injection amount reached at about 1000 L. 3-D resistivity profiles before and after the injection were reconstructed and clearly delineated decrease in resistivity at the near-surface zone. After the resistivity measurements, the levee was excavated to observe the internal structure and to certify the effect of grouting. The observed facts were consistent with the resistivity survey results.
