An attempt on removal of magnetic noise due to subsurface obstacles

Abstract
An attempt to remove undesired magnetic field due to artificial obstacles was made at the field of pottery site in Shiraiwa, Senboku city, Akita prefecture. Ditches made by concrete and iron were the source of magnetic noise at the site. We already have successfully shown, to some extent, the removal method of magnetic noise whose magnetic sources were replaced by magnetic dipoles. Next we show another example of applying the same method to the magnetic exploration at a geological field. The magnetic exploration field is at Sugisawa, Daisen city, Akita prefecture. The site is the former pit to collect ballast for construction work. The collection of ballast was ceased and an outcrop of the wall inside a tertiary lava dome was appeared. On the outcrop of the wall we can see a dacite dyke and the dyke is inferred to elongate to beneath the magnetic exploration field. Our final purpose is to delineate the shape of the underground dacite dyke by magnetic exploration. Recently we find the dumped soil and rocks on the surface of the field. We can recognize magnetic obstacles are included in the soil. We try to remove these magnetic sources by replacing magnetic dipoles.
