Laboratory measurements of ultrasonic wave in partially frozen unconsolidated sediments saturated with brine -Data acquisition-

Abstract
The objective of a series of our experimental studies is to establish measurement system using an ultrasonic P-wave and S-wave transmission technique in low temperature. In this study, we conducted laboratory measurements of ultrasonic P-wave and S-wave in partially frozen unconsolidated sediments saturated with brine for different distances between the source and receiver transducers. After the freezing of unconsolidated sediments saturated with brine, we take digital microscope moving photo for seeing that partially frozen brines are grown in the pore space between sand grains. Finally we observed the variations of a transmitted wave in partially frozen unconsolidated sediments saturated with brine, changing its temperature from normal temperature to -20degrees.
