Application of the high resolution 2D reflection seismic method in the Bayonnaise Knoll

Abstract
The deep sea hydrothermal deposits are the mineral resources that expose on the ocean floor, and some exploration are carried out to establish an image of these deposits. It is well known that topography of hydrothermal area is very complicated and acoustically chaotic. That is the main reason that a useful exploration method of hydrothermal deposits has not been proposed yet. The reflection seismic method is one of the expecting methods of the exploration of these deposits. It is said however, that the 2D reflection seismic method applied to the complicated topography can get only low S/N ratio data because of the tilted reflection of the wave and so on. Then, the precise analysis of the 2D reflection seismic data obtained from the Bayonnaise Knoll is tried in order to evaluate the availability of 2D reflection seismic method. After investigating the parameter of processing like migration and deconvolution carefully, the clear cross section can be made almost all of the survey lines and some peculiar reflection patterns are recognized. As a result, useful information can be obtained by the 2D reflection seismic method using these precise seismic processing technologies.
