Detection of land subsidence in Indonesia using DInSAR techinique

Abstract
Semarang is the 5th largest city in Indonesia located in the northern coast of Java island. It has been reported that severe land subsidence is occurred in the city due to excessive ground water extraction and natural consolidation alluvial, load of construction by leveling and GPS and PSInSAR technique. It is better to obtain spatially dense deformation data using DInSAR technique in the view of monitoring subsidence in the city. This paper describes and discusses the results obtained by DInSAR technique using ALOS/PALSAR images of 2006/6 ~ 2010/3. In the result it is assumed that subsidence is occurred in alluvial deposit area. This trend is same as data from previous study. However uplift event is also found in this study. This trend is not found from previous study.
